Seminal first album of assembled home recordings conceived on inherited instruments and captured on a Yamaha 4-trk left behind in the ashes of his college band’s demise. This gear would become a central part of the makeshift recording studio constructed inside his fabled double-wide trailer in Scott’s Run, WV. From the fall of 97’ thru early winter 98’ Hurst single-handedly produced an archive of audio material that has yet to be fully catalogued let alone comprehended. This is CD no 1 of a handmade 3 CD set given out as a keepsake that was distributed to friends and lovers during the opening of Hurst’s MFA Thesis exhibition “Myths, Mysteries and Memories” at Pratt Institute. The cuts, Are You Misbehaving?, Live In Slow Motion, The Car Is Crushed and The Way The World’s Spinning Tonite crackle with a possessed self-reliant conviction that defines Hurst’s instinctive approach to music, then, now- and forever.
